Did you know that the genetic material used to tell a developing embryo where to grow appendages in humans is nearly identical to that in squid and flies and many other creatures? We are genetic pack rats, passing on information from generation to generation. We have it from the first organism that started using those genes to grow things. It’s the same idea with built in resistances to ancient diseases. Really? I’m not so sure either… This song is an experiment: Geneticist and Drummer R. Voorhies recently derived genes from a perfectly preserved human embryo (unearthed from an Irish Bog c. 2006) in order to replicate the genome of said ancestral human, Kong-Man. What resulted is a long lost parable detailing one Kong-Man’s day at the beach.
